From the many approaches of devising theatre inspired by the Clockfire methodology, to gaining a practical understanding of the renowned Lecoq® technique, Clockfire's workshops will facilitate creative learning integral to the development of an idea in a richly collaborative environment.

 

DEVISED THEATRE & OBJECTS OF PLAY

This program is geared towards unlocking the fundamentals of group devised performance and ensemble collaboration. Encouraging students to become original storytellers, they will learn to search for dramatic themes, identify performance styles and create a physical language of their own. Students will also gain a unique insight into the ingenious world of objects and materials revealing innovative and visual approaches to developing narrative. This workshop will equip students with the tools to invent and devise as an ensemble.

  • Duration: 2.5 hours, half day or full day laboratories

  • Suitable for: Stage 4, 5 & 6 High school students and Tertiary students

Discover physical approaches to theatre and performance through an in depth investigation of the Jacques Lecoq® performance theory and pedagogy. This physical workshop will introduce students to Lecoq's insight that tout bouge - 'everything moves' and provide them with practical examples of Lecoq's Mimodynamic technique. From physicalising observations of the everyday to examining the role of the Neutral Mask in actor training, students will develop the tools to create presence in the body and experience an enhanced understanding of physical awareness, coordination and openness in space.

  • Duration: 2.5 hours or half day laboratories

  • Suitable for: Stage 4, 5 & 6 High school students, Tertiary students and professional performers
